Since 1975, the Koreatown Organizations Association (KYCC) has been doing the unglamorous, essential work that holds a neighborhood together. From a single community center at 3727 W 6th Street in Los Angeles, the organization has grown into a full-service hub for low-income, multiethnic, and recently immigrated families who need real support, not referrals to a waiting list.
KYCC operates on a simple principle: every service is delivered in the language and cultural context of the person who needs it. That means counselors who speak Korean, English, and Spanish, programs designed around the realities of immigrant life, and staff who understand that trust takes time to build. The community has noticed, with neighbors consistently praising the breadth of free resources available and the genuine care behind them.
From planting free trees along city streets to running preschool and K-12 after-school programs, KYCC connects daily neighborhood life to long-term opportunity. This is not a drop-in brochure rack. It is a living institution that has adapted decade after decade to serve whoever Koreatown's residents actually are.
KYCC's programs span the full arc of a family's needs. On the mental health side, licensed counselors offer individual and group mental health counseling, as well as drug and alcohol recovery support and substance use prevention for youth. For families navigating crisis, there are family support services and access to supportive housing resources. Enhanced care management connects clients with coordinated, ongoing help across multiple systems.
Financially, KYCC provides one-on-one coaching, free tax preparation, and small business development support so that residents can build stability, not just survive the month. Children and youth are served through preschool programming and K-12 after-school enrichment. The organization also runs a Koreatown storytelling program that preserves community history, an environmental reforestation initiative that puts trees in residents' hands, and dedicated AAPI hate resources for those who have experienced discrimination.
